 BAKER GROUP - BAKER DVSA

We provide state-of-the-art software for installation on your existing desktop or laptop computers. There is no need to spend additional resources or pay higher prices for laptops. XP operating systems are recommended.

Over 1500 law enforcement agencies in the US effectively use various VSA systems. It is believed that there are more than 15000 VSA systems in use worldwide. U.S. Department of Defense uses VSA technology in the war on terrorism.

BAKER-DVSA is not limited to traditional Forensic Psychophysiological Detection of Deception techniques of polygraph and other voice stress analys is instruments.

DVSA, like polygraph, when used for the purpose of “detection of deception”, is limited by definition to face-to-face examiner / examinee interaction, with the examiner restricted to utilizing specifically designed and implemented test protocols and exacting analysis requirements. Unlike polygraph however, DVSA does not require attachments of invasive and at times uncomfortable body sensors that tend to create unnatural stress.

Since the voice micro-tremor is governed by the central nervous system and is graphically displayed “real time” by DVSA, and instantly reacts to the psychological stimuli (the question) and instantly recovers to that stimuli, tests are not limited to 8-12 questions as in traditional polygraph instrumentation. Waiting for polygraph-type physiologic reaction and for breathing, pulse / blood pressure homeostasis to occur is not required. DVSA tests may be conducted “real time” as in polygraph, may be audio tape recorded for subsequent charting, analysis, and archival purposes, or both.

The DVSA System’s capabilities far exceed those of mechanical, electronic, and computerized polygraph systems. For purposes of detection of deception the Baker - DVSA measures and graphically displays twelve physiological functions as compared to three with the polygraph.

These physiological phenomena of the human vocal utterance, utilizing VSA, display absolute stress at the instant of utterance as well as relative stress when compared to other derived voice signatures in speech or non-speech human sounds. Seventeen separate and unique audiographic signature patterns are identifiable and quantifiable. Thus, providing the examiner the ability to determine absolute stress at instant of utterance and relative or comparative degrees of psychophysiological stress. Additionally, each of the 12 phenomena may be displayed in over 15 different modes or samplings permitting in-depth study and analysis. Each pattern display may be enlarged up to 400% for additional close inspection and close analysis.

Polygraph instruments depend on 80 year-old technology and only display three physiological actions; breathing, pulse as related to blood pressure, and galvanic skin response. These physiological responses are graphically displayed on a moving chart and only indicate relative stress when compared to other answers. Polygraph cannot be utilized in multi-word analysis, cannot be used covertly, and is highly susceptible to countermeasures

About the instructor:

The principal instructor is E. GARY BAKER, Ph.D., Director, The Baker Group. He is a leader in the field of Voice Stress Analysis - Detection of Deception and Behavior Analysis Interview & Interrogation.

E. Gary Baker, Ph.D., DVSA™© developer and course instructor has practiced VSA since 1974 and polygraph since 1984. He has conducted over 10,000 examinations. Baker protocols have been accepted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for vetting nuclear power station applicants. He introduced VSA techniques into the US / Colombia anti-terrorism and war on drugs. Dr. Baker has instructed students utilizing a wide array of “lie detection” instruments and techniques including outdated analogue CVSA™, Diogenes Lantern, PSE, polygraph, and Mark II.

Baker also instructed analysts and engineers of the Air Force Research Laboratory -Law Enforcement Analysis Facility, N.I.J - National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center and at Sandia National Laboratories where most of the U.S. nuclear arsenal is developed. DVSA™© is used in Iraq for vetting local national and third country nationals for sensitive and high security positions.

Dr. Baker has created the most successful Law Enforcement VSA examiner seminars available. No other instructor has a similar background. He has over 37 years of professional polygraph and voice stress analysis detection of deception - truth verification and investigative experience.

In 1996 he compiled his research and experience in developing the PDD VOICE STRESS ANALYSIS “CERTIFIED EXAMINER’S COURSE” and “ADVANCED EXAMINER’S COURSE” assisting law enforcement, military, and governmental agents to master the strategies, tactics and psychological insights of detection of deception testing and interviewing. Now professionals, including arson investigators, law enforcement investigators, probation officers, military intelligence agents, US and foreign government intelligence agents, corporate security, psychologists, and psychiatrists have attended his seminars.

The DVSA EXAMINER COURSE is packed with strategies, techniques, tactics and tips developed over a period of almost four decades. He designed the seminar topics to be practical, hard-hitting and to pay off with confessions.

Yours free when you attend.

A comprehensive set of reference materials is not only a constant reminder of everything you learned but includes additional topics not covered in the seminar.

No other training course offers so much.

These reference materials assure that you can keep the course working for you in the months and years ahead. They are designed for course attendees and are not sold. They are only available if you attend the Forensic Interview & Interrogation Seminar, DVSA Law Enforcement Examiner Course or purchased the DVSA software package.

Participating agencies will be provided with FREE Baker - Digital Voice Stress Analysis™© (DVSA) v5.0 computer software and end user license. Graduates will be capable of conducting truth verification / credibility assessment examinations with ease concerning criminal matters, witnesses, victims, internal affairs, intelligence, counterintelligence and employment & selection.

DVSA™© software is provided through Criminal Justice grants allocated by the developer. You save $9950 on each VSA system through this grant. Your only cost is initial training tuition for each examiner at $1250 and re-certification training of $300 annually thereafter.

When DVSA™© software is installed into your department’s lap-top computer the system can be used anywhere. Voice Stress Analysis has been instrumental in the solving of a long list of real cases. It out performs all other detection of deception methods. This new and advanced DVSA™© is the most effective investigative tool to be introduced into the law enforcement community since the invention of polygraph. DVSA v5.0™© is far superior to CVSA™, VIPRE, Namesysco, LVA, PSE, Lantern, and polygraph.

DVSA™© requires no attachments to the subject being tested. DVSA™© uses only a microphone and computer to capture and display the subject's verbal responses. As the subject speaks, the computer instantly records the verbalizations. After complicated algorithmic calculations and filtering, the derived voice pattern is numbered, saved, and displayed on-screen for examiner analysis, and chart printing.

Drugs, alcohol, and physical health condition does not affect DVSA™©. There are no known countermeasures. "Inconclusive" results associated with the polygraph are not applicable to DVSA™©. Multi-word and narrative statements may be easily analyzed for truthfulness, both in-person or via audio recordings. Cold cases are easily resurrected by analyzing old interview recordings.

RESTRICTED ATTENDANCE: Participants must be current or former law enforcement investigators, arson investigators, District Attorney / State Prosecutor Investigators, State regulatory agency investigators, or government agents. Attendees should have prior training in interview & interrogation.

RE-CERTIFICATION CLASS SCHEDULED

A one-day annual re-certification class will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 8:30AM to 5PM, for all previously trained DVSA examiners. Updated DVSA v5.0 software with many new features will be distributed to all attendees. Re-certification class cost is $300. Pre-registration is required.
